If you were eagerly awaiting a second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Jupiter’s legacy, so I have bad news for you – Term has reported that the streaming service has released the cast, which includes Josh Duhamel and Leslie Bibb, from their commitments and that the show will not continue as an ongoing series. However, this is seen more like a transformation than a cancellation, as Netflix will become Jupiter’s legacy instead, in a kind of Mark Millar anthology franchise.
Netflix ordered a live adaptation of Mark Millar Super thieves, which mixes with the world of Jupiter’s legacy. The project is still in the early stages, so it is not yet clear if any characters from Jupiter’s legacy I want to cross. The series will follow a “A gang of supervillains, scammers, petty thieves and legbreakers teaming up for the heist of the century and the most outrageous crime story you’ve ever seen.“

While Netflix seems to be going in a different direction than expected, Mark Millar seems confident that they will return to the Jupiter’s legacy story at a later date. “I’m really proud of what the team accomplished with Jupiter’s Legacy and the incredible work everyone did that season of origin.“Millar said in Twitter. “I have been asked a lot about what we are planning next with this world and the answer is to see what the supervillains are doing. I’ve always loved crime stories, from Scorcese to Tarantino, and supervillains are always the funniest part of any superhero story. Doing something exclusively focused on the villains they fight feels incredibly fresh as we explore what it’s like to be a bad boy in a world full of good guys who want to throw you in jail. Jupiter’s Legacy is a vast and rich space with many characters for me, so I’m happy to share that our next step here is a live-action version of the Supercrooks comic that I created with Leinil Francis Yu a few years ago. Considering where we are going now, we’ve made the difficult decision to let our incredible cast slip out of their commitment to the show as we continue to carefully develop all the realms of the Jupiter’s Legacy saga. We’re sure we’ll be back later and we just want to thank you guys for your continued support and the cast and crew who made this look so good.“Jupiter’s Legacy debuted on Netflix last month (you can see a review from our own Alex Maidy right here), but I have a feeling it wasn’t exactly the success they were hoping for.
