There is a new monster from Midway.
After months of speculation, unfair analysis and mercurial draft actions, Justin Fields heads to the Bears after being selected 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Bears, who were originally scheduled to pick No. 20, traded a first-round pick from 2022 and more to the Giants for the No. 11 pick. Fields was expected to make the top 10, and a small drop resulted in Chicago securing his presumed long-term response as a quarterback.
The Ohio State quarterback went through the buzzer prior to this year’s draft. At first, he was slated to be No. 2, but was eventually overtaken by BYU’s Zach Wilson (No. 2, Jets) and Trey Lance (No. 3, 49ers) before finally hearing his name.

Fields was at home with friends and family when his name was announced and one of the biggest mysteries of the 2021 NFL Draft was solved.
Although the Bears signed free-agent quarterback Andy Dalton, presumably to start, they will have a great option to make the fields look ready during training camp.
Here’s how the NFL world reacted to Chicago’s selection of Fields:

I am 42 years old. Elderly. Two children sleeping in the hallway.
I might cry a little. I am so proud of the bears.
