The Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) teamed up with UNICAF University on Thursday to promote online studies. The partnership was achieved at a meeting held at the Hotel Africana- Kampala, which brought together high school principals and members of the private sector, among others.
In his opening remarks, UNICAF Vice Chancellor Professor George William Nasinyama said that the Cyprus-based UNICAF University has three campuses in Africa, namely; Uganda, Malawi and Zambia.
He said the University, which has graduated more than 400 people in various academic disciplines so far, focuses on offering demand-driven courses to enable its graduates to be job creators.
“UNICAF University academic papers are recognized by the British Accreditation Council and enable UNICAF degree holders to compete favorably with others in the global job market,” he said.

Prof. Nasinyama highlighted the advantages of studying online at UNICAF University to include; the flexibility of students to schedule at their convenience, since the University’s academic curriculum is based on study modules and not semesters.
“Each course unit (module) starts every month and if one has five modules per year, that student is able to schedule himself at the best time and suitable space to cover these modules,” he added.
Thadeus Musoke, President of KACITA, applauded the UNICAF partnership, saying that many merchants in the city will benefit from online studies, especially in business administration to further their knowledge in commerce. Mr. Musoke, the owner of the Private Primary and Secondary Schools, assured UNICAF that he will encourage teachers in his schools to improve their academic knowledge.
“Let’s be ambassadors when we live this meeting by encouraging so many teachers and members of the private sector to update their knowledge to strengthen the education sector in Uganda.”
Dr. Dennis Kapyata, UNICAF Director of Academic Affairs, highlighted the courses offered at the UNICAF, Uganda campus, which include; Degrees in Health Management, Business Administration, Tourism and Hotel Management and Business, Accounting and Finance.
He said that the University has set aside $US 1 million in scholarships for all students who meet the University’s requirements.
