Pippa Middleton is a mother of two! Kate Middleton’s younger sister invited her second child, a little girl, with her husband James Matthews on Monday, turning 2-year-old Arthur into an older brother, PEOPLE learned.
The baby’s name has a special connection to Aunt Kate
Grace Elizabeth Jane was conceived around 4.22am earlier today, measuring 6lbs, 7oz. Mother and baby are progressing well, a familiar source tells PEOPLE. “She is ideal, everyone is excited for an especially happy arrival,” adds the source. Pippa and James named their daughter Grace Elizabeth Jane, which implies that she gives a central name to her conceived Aunt Kate, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton. (She also shares the name of Kate’s in-law grandmother, Queen Elizabeth!)
Kate and Prince William are “delighted” with the information about Pippa’s son. “The Duke and Duchess are totally excited by the happy news,” a source close to several tells People. Pippa, 37, and James, 45, invited their first child in October. 2018. Pippa continued in her royal sister’s footsteps by conceiving an offspring in the pretty wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, a similar place where Kate and Prince William invited each of their three children.
The new expansion is the fifth grandson of Carole and Michael Middleton and a younger cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Pippa and James were married in May 2017 at St. Imprint’s Church in Englefield. His illustrious nephew and niece, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, served at the wedding party.
A source recently revealed to PEOPLE that Pippa and her partner are looking forward to settling down and “having children and having a quiet existence.” Kate’s sister reported how she stayed dynamic during her first pregnancy and proceeded with her Waitrose Weekend wellness section by sharing how little Arthur is following her example by going to a children’s fitness center. “Since Arthur is 11 months old and more versatile, I have been trying to think of various exercises to do with him,” she wrote in a September 2019 article. “I was hoping to discover something beyond strolling through the park in the stroller. . Our neighborhood children’s exercise center has been a redeeming quality.
