Katie Griffin has lung cancer.
The 60-year-old comedian took to Instagram on Monday (2/21/21) to share with fans that she has stage 1 left lung cancer and needs to have half of her organ removed.
She wrote: “I have to tell you something. I have cancer. I’m going to have surgery to remove half of my left lung. Yes, I have lung cancer, although I have never smoked! the doctors are very optimistic as this is the first stage and it is in my left lung. Hopefully after that there will be no chemotherapy or radiation and I will have normal breathing. “
Katie hopes that she will make a full recovery from the surgery and predicted that she would “get well as usual” within a month.
She wrote: “I have to get up and run as usual in a month or less. It’s been a hell of 4 years trying to get back to work, making you laugh and entertaining you, but I’ll be fine. “
