An important milestone! Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer was thrilled thinking about the journey of her daughter Alianna “Ali” Simms with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, and she shared a huge update on Ali’s diagnosis during the second part of the film. Teen Mom 2 reunion is special.

Leah paused and took a deep breath, trying to hold back her tears, talking about her 11-year-old daughter, whom she shares with her ex-husband. Corey Simms… “Guys, it was a hell of 12 years,” she said, crying.
She said OSU conducted a biopsy study on Ali to try to find a “cure” and “cure” for titin muscular dystrophy, a rare form that Ali was diagnosed with when she was just 2 years old.
“If I stopped looking for a diagnosis, I would never get to the point where, 12 years from now, we find a cure and do research — and don’t tell me damn it, science isn’t real,” Leah said. her voice trembled. “Because this is my daughter’s livelihood.”
Dr. Drew, 62, pointed to another major milestone in Ali’s journey when her longtime physician Dr. Caoshowed that since 2012, hundreds of others around the world have been diagnosed with the same titin muscular dystrophy as Ali. Studies have shown that with a large number of patients to be investigated, patients can live up to 70 years of age with this condition. This is a huge update considering that when Ali was diagnosed in 2014, the life expectancy for people with titin muscular dystrophy was only about 20 years.
“Despite the treatment, her prognosis has changed markedly,” reports Dr. Drew Podcast, ”said the host. “I was so excited when I saw this, she could have lived a normal life with this thing, she just might have to deal with it. But that’s a big deal. “
Later in the segment, Leah also shared the news about her struggles with addiction and her fear of breast cancer after she found a lump on her breast that luckily turned out to be benign.
