Sony has officially delayed Tom Hardy’s lead by three months
Sony has officially delayed Poison: let there be slaughterLaunching through September 2021. Following the reboot of Spider-Man starring Tom Holland and successfully linking him to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony is looking to build a larger franchise. The first film starring Tom Hardy was a worldwide hit and earned more than $ 850 million, even though the reviews were mostly mixed.
PoisonThe success inspired Sony to make more Spider-Man villain spin-offs, but the most anticipated title of all is Poison 2. The sequel was announced in the post-credit scene of the first film, where Woody Harrelson appeared as Cletus Kasady, who has the Carnage symbiote inside him.
The delay for Poison: let there be slaughter it was something the fans expected. Universal Pictures announced earlier this month that they were delaying the release of F9 to June 25, making everyone think that Poison it would be the next big title to be delayed. Even though the first movie was a hit, Sony is taking no chances, as the second would be on a larger scale with a more popular villain. Theaters are reopening, so it will be wise for producers to wait and see if they continue to grow.
Still on the way
Although the film was delayed, its release order was not affected. Poison 2 keeps hitting theaters sooner Spider-Man: No Way Home, leading some to believe that Tom Holland will make a cameo in the film. It will also be released before Jared Leto-rigider Morbius. What we can expect is the first trailer and how director Andy Serkis handled the fight between Venom and Carnage.
