Remember all the fun we had when I asked you to choose a car from a random parking lot of a medical center? Of course you do: it was a magical moment and it made me feel closer to you than ever. well, me crave that closeness, so let’s do it again! This time, I’ll create a hypothetical automotive scenario and give you Two parking images to choose from: one boring, one less boring. Ready? Sure you are.

Let’s start with the scenario. You have to pick a car from the parking lot, of course, and here’s what you need to do with that car: it will be your daily driver for six months at first. All your normal daily driving needs.

Then, after six months, you have to use that car to take a multi-day road trip with four stops: on the first leg you take a passenger, a woman wearing a cap, oversized sunglasses, giraffe-print leggings and one of those fisherman’s vests with all the pockets. He smokes and insists on smoking in the car.

Second stop you have to take three medium sized suitcases filled with something that looks like some kind of gumbo.

The third stop requires you to drive into an abandoned mall and avoid another car that will try to pick you up. The inside of the mall is a bit labyrinthine, full of old Dippin ‘Dots kiosks and stalls.

The final leg of the journey is a combination of high-speed highways and rough dirt and gravel roads; not exactly off-road, but not on smooth pavement either.

Oh, and all the gas money goes out of your pocket. You will not be refunded.

Done? That’s a lot to accept, so if you need a moment, I get it.

Ok, here are the parking lots. The first is a fairly modern American parking lot, not overly exciting, but rather representative of what you might find almost anywhere:

It is actually the Oakland airport parking lot. Ok, choose a car that you believe best meets the needs of the scenario.

When you’re done, here’s a bonus lot: Which car would you pick to meet the needs of the situation from this parking lot since the 1980s in the UK?

It’s more colorful, that’s damn safe. And there are some fun cars here – will anyone have the guts to pick a three-wheeled Reliant Robin? Does the almost certain mechanical problem you would have with that Land Rover scare you, or is it worth it? That mini would be good for the mall stage. But what about that Scirocco?

Okay, so, in the comments, tell me your Modern Pick and your Vintage Pic. And explain! I – and everyone else – want to know because you have come to the conclusions you have made!

Can’t wait to see what is chosen!
