MANILA, Philippines – Yuka Saso made history when she became the youngest winner of the US Women’s Open, and with that came championship spoils, one of which is meeting her golf idol Rory McIlroy.
While she was calm and collected during her historic victory, the same cannot be said when she finally met McIlroy, a senior male champion of our time.
“I didn’t know how to say hi,” Saso said on GolfChannel.com. “But it was so nice. Hey, how are you kid. Hey, it was so open. When I asked him a question, he was very honest. I hope I can ask you for more advice. “
Two unforgettable days in two weeks to @ SasoYuka_315!

Saso, who tied South Korea’s Park Inbee as the competition’s youngest champion, modeled her swing to McIlroy’s and the four-time Major League winner and former world number one saw the similarities.
McIlroy even tweeted Saso’s form in his title campaign.

Saso, who was a bystander this time, watched McIlroy from inside the ropes, but she said she preferred to keep her conversation with him private.
“I cannot share it with you. I want to keep it with me, ”said Saso, who was like a girl in a candy store while visiting Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.
“I saw Phil [Mickelson] activating his calves, and yes, I saw Jordan Spieth. I saw the great players, ”said Saso. “It’s been a great day and I’m thinking of coming back tomorrow morning before flying back to Atlanta.”
