Christian B, 44, was identified as the main suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance by German authorities last year.

Investigators said they have evidence to accuse him and say that I am “100% convinced “is responsible.

Madeleine disappeared in 2007 three years from parents Kate and Gerry’s vacation apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

Two years earlier, Christian B had raped a 72-year-old American woman who lived nearby and is now in a German crime prison.

ADVANTAGE FROM COLD

The Mail on Sunday reports that a former friend of his, Gunter Bartl, 58, who lived in Praia da Luz, said that Christian B once said: “Anything is possible.

“If you like to take a baby and take it away, you will never find it again.”

Mr. Bartl had worked as a real estate agent in the Algarve, he knew the sex demon well as they mingled socially with other German-speaking ones.

He said, “Personally, I think he’s capable of kidnapping Maddie. He’d do anything for money.

“I knew that Christian dealt with drugs and stolen things and I knew that he tried to go to the hotels where the rich were staying.”

Christian B is said to have made similar insensitive comments while working in a kiosk in the German city of Braunschweig in 2014.

Lenta Johlitz, 34, who worked at the kiosk run by Christian B, revealed last year that he was agitated when Madeleine’s case was raised.

He told ITV News: “He said very loudly ‘the baby is dead! After all these years you wouldn’t have found such a corpse anyway.’

“That was the only situation where I look back and wonder ‘Why did he say that then?’

He previously revealed how Christian B “lost it” when the missing child was mentioned – and said it was “good” that she was dead.

Lenta said, “He wanted us to stop. He shouted, ‘The baby is dead now and that’s good.'”

POLICE INVESTIGATION

Investigators hope to take Christian B to court next year.

Scotland Yard investigators – initially skeptical of his involvement – are now also confident that he is the man responsible for the 2007 disappeared.

Part of the investigated evidence includes an alleged “confession” made by Christian B to a friend, and analysis of the phone shows that he was at the Ocean Club when Madeleine went missing.

But investigators have no evidence that she is dead, with no DNA evidence or photos linking the sex offender to the alleged murder.

Last month, Hans Christian Wolters, the German chief prosecutor in the case, told the … Mirror: “Now it’s possible we could indict. We have that evidence now.

“But it’s not just about accusing him: we want to accuse him with the best possible body of evidence.

“When we still have questions, it would make no sense to load rather than wait for answers that could strengthen our position.

“That’s why we said we will investigate as long as there are clues or information to pursue.”

Christian B is also being investigated in connection with a rape and indecent assaults that took place in Praia da Luz when he lived there from 2002 to 2008.

Denies involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.
