As he leaves, Megan Thee Stallion is asked if she thinks the Grammys are rigged.
On Sunday night (March 14), as we left The Highlight Room in Hollywood, TMZ met with Megan You Stallion to congratulate her on her victory.
During that conversation, Meg was asked about manipulating the Grammys. Within your response, you simultaneously show your support for The Weeknd; despite his own problems with the Recording Academy. “Hell no, the Grammys aren’t rigged,” replies the rapper. “Bitch, if you lose something, you win something.”
Then Meg was asked what she thought of The Weeknd and announced that she was boycotting the Grammys. Megan responds quickly by showing love for the 31-year-old singer. “We love The Weeknd,” he says. “We are”.
The drama behind The Weeknd and its relationship with the Grammys aired three days before the awards ceremony.
According to The New York Times, the Canadian singer announced that he will no longer submit his music to the Recording Academy for consideration. When announcing your withdrawal, explain that; “Due to the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to send my music to the Grammys.”
This is not the first time he has appeared at the awards ceremony. Last November, he called the Recording Academy, which oversees the coveted awards show, “corrupt.”
“The Grammys are still corrupt,” he says on Instagram. “You owe it to me, my fans and the industry for transparency.”
Currently, Megan has a different relationship with the Grammy committee. The 26-year-old rapper took home awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Song for “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé. It won the category of Best Rap Performance for the same song.
While Megan Thee Stallion didn’t win the record for the year, pop star Billie Eilish dedicated her win to Megan; insisting that the young MC should have been the winner.
