Victoria-based Mercy Health has implemented a cloud-based clinical documentation integrity workflow tool from 3M Health Information Systems to improve its documentation review and inquiry workflow processes.
According to the healthcare IT provider, this is the first time 3M M*Modal CDI Collaborate has been implemented in Australia.
This tool uses artificial intelligence and natural language understanding to analyze a complete digital record of a patient and provide insights to improve documentation accuracy. It also uses clinical reasoning and contextual understanding to see what is present and absent in a record, helping clinicians save hours of manual review. In addition, it streamlines the consultation workflow by automatically generating supporting evidence sheets for consultations.
BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT
Mercy Health, which runs two hospitals in Melbourne, is a long-term user of 3M Codefinder and 3M Core Grouping Software. Recently, it established a CDI program with the intent of capturing an accurate representation of patient episodes within their medical records. Through this program, a specialist function of the CDI has been performed, along with the associated objective measures related to its activity.
The organization turned to 3M for a solution that will allow it to assess the sustainability and long-term results of its CDI program. He wanted the solution to help his CDI team become more efficient with their time and help them prioritize their workload to focus on high-impact areas.
According to a statement, 3M CDI Collaborate provides a user interface where Mercy Health CDI specialists can collaborate on reviews of patient records and maintain a record of actions taken to resolve documentation gaps . It has been integrated with 3M Codefinder to allow users to quickly generate and store reference data, which can be compared to coded data. Additionally, the reporting module built into this CDI tool will allow Mercy Health to use the data captured to provide visibility into results and productivity metrics and plan for continuous improvement in its documentation improvement efforts.
THE BIGGEST TREND
Last year, Victorian healthcare organization Alfred Health also adopted a 3M CDI solution to improve documentation and streamline processes. implemented the 3M 360 Encompass System that has integrated and automated CDI, clinical medical record coding and performance monitoring throughout your facility.
