It’s 9:33 am in the Beauty Lab parking lot. Jen left with the pretext that her husband, Sharrieff, has internal bleeding. Then. The feds arrive. In this episode of The real housewives of Salt Lake City, Jen evades arrest and leaves the women faltering, trying to figure out why Homeland Security might be looking for their friend.
Inside the bus and beyond confused by the surreal experience, Jennie, Whitney, Heather, And Lisa get on their phones in an attempt to gather information and cross-check stories. Heather writes and calls Jen (against Lisa’s best judgment) and Lisa decides to call her lawyers as nothing makes sense. They all start worrying about being guilty by association, but Jennie is fresh as a cucumber and has no problem helping herself with Jen’s bag of goodies. Attack. They decide to move on with the journey, despite the wild interaction they have just witnessed, and begin the journey to Vail.
Meredith He arrives at his rental in Vail and the “first” house is crazy. There is also an “experience curator” that comes with the house. It looks like money to me. As Meredith toasts the fun to Vail, Lisa wonders why Jen was so slow to leave. They are trying to find out how Homeland Security would know where to look for Jen and come to the frightening conclusion that someone may have revealed Jen’s location. In fact, Jennie thinks there may be a warrant to look for Jen.
While on the phone with her husband, Lisa whispers in front of the other women, “I think Meredith might know something. I’m damn serious.” Hmmm. Whitney questions Jen’s lifestyle and how she can afford $ 80,000 parties for Meredith and wonders how she actually gets her money. Apparently, Jen is the Chandler Bing of the group as no one can define Jen’s true occupation.
When the bus makes a brief stop, Whitney grabs Heather on her own and thinks aloud if Lisa knows anything. Lisa KEEPS saying “someone tipped him off” and why did he call everyone? SIX of his lawyers immediately? So who has six lawyers? Move away Harriet spies on her… Whitney is on the case.
Lisa wondering if Jen will introduce herself to Vail makes me want to laugh out loud. Jennie asks who is closest Jen and Jen’s assistant, StuartWhitney, busy on the phone, gives an audible gasp when she finds the news article interrupting Jen’s arrest.
Jen AND Stu are accused of robbing vulnerable victims in a telemarketing scam for many years. This results in fraud and money laundering. Lisa starts to pretend to cry for Stu, as he too is involved in this mess. Heather can barely read the article without having a breakdown. What a weird smile from Whitney when she tells the girls that Jen has been arrested and is in custody. Maybe it was an adverse reaction to Lisa’s crocodile tears? Whitney thought that Jen simply had a daddy to lead the life she was living, but alas, Jen was scamming people for money and could receive up to 30 years in prison.
Jen’s business was known to be high pressure, but Heather didn’t know she was taking advantage of the elderly or people with disabilities. Jen allegedly hit vulnerable people and installed them with fake subscriptions.
At Jen’s home, a search warrant was executed and they started breaking in, just as Jennie speculated on the bus with the women. Let me tell you, the Ring camera footage of the raid sent shivers down my spine. And watching Jen’s son walk out with his hands up … it’s so sad.
Lisa decides to call Meredith and catch her up on the news. Lisa explains that Jen is not on the bus because a full SWAT team has come to arrest Jen for fraud. Meredith is cold as a stone and states that she is not surprised by this. Meredith suspected for a while that too many things didn’t go back with Jen and Meredith believes she actually knew who Jen was, but no one wanted to hear her. Meredith’s reaction is a little … weird. Tell me who informed the feds without telling me who informed the feds, huh?
Watching the bus crew try to understand Jen’s allegations is hilarious, especially when Heather refers to Ozark to explain how money laundering works. When startups are mentioned as a great way to launder and evade taxes, Whitney jumps on it. “Makes sense. That’s why she always starts businesses!” Lisa calls Whitney Nancy Drew and is a little annoyed that she tries to solve the mystery. But it’s curious that Lisa is trying a LOT to point her finger in every direction, isn’t she? Man, they’re all suspects now.
Maria she is the first to arrive at Meredith’s Vail rental and finds Meredith in a bubble bath. I can’t even face Meredith breaking down Jen’s arrest with Mary while she was in the tub. It’s all an atmosphere. Meredith tells Mary everything she knows and Mary, for once, is left speechless. Mary claims she never really suspected Jen, but once again Meredith says she wasn’t surprised by this news. Meredith tells Mary that Jen is accused of fraud and money laundering and says this must have been an ongoing investigation UNLESS an insider provided them with the information. TIP TIP. Meredith also tells Mary, “I was traumatized and terrified” by Jen Shah for nearly two years, and she knows, for sure, that Jen is not innocent.
As the bus approaches Vail, Jennie states that Mary is not her mother, but she will go on the journey with an open mind even after their latest snow tubing altercation. Jennie realizes that her problems with Mary are very small compared to what’s going on with Jen. When they finally get home, Heather throws herself screaming “it’s the feds”, but alas, it’s too early for that. Meredith is still in the longest bathroom in history. Meredith, that water must be cold by now … And, isn’t it interesting that I’m not even one iota interested in finding out the latest news for Jen?
It appears that all the minutiae and quarrels the women were having in the group were overshadowed by Jen’s legal problems. On a lighter note, why is Robert Sr. saved in Mary’s phone as “Dad?” #died.
After a few bites, Meredith approaches and asks, “So what does everyone think?” Most of the women say they were shocked and say how surreal the moment they were surrounded at the Beauty Lab was. According to Whitney’s sources, Jen was arrested on the side of the road and was found by a ping from her. phone, implying that he was on the run. Mary claims she feels a little betrayed by Jen and doesn’t like the fact that she didn’t show remorse for cheating on the elders.
Then Meredith talks about an accident that happened at the end of September. Jen and her crew came to Meredith’s shop and evidently one of Jen’s employees picked up a green clutch bag from Meredith’s shop. Even more shocking for Meredith was the fact that Jen still kept the clerk on her team, despite that red flag. Meredith also shares stranger things about Jen like how she’s red-flagged in the Louis Vuitton system for paying cash. Meredith tells the girls that when all the pieces of the puzzle are put together, nothing is consistent in Jen.
Heather shares that one night, she put Jen in an Uber, only to find that halfway through the ride, Jen got off at an intersection for some strange reason. Lisa jumps in and wonders aloud if Jen was alone, and she hints that she knows something juicy about Jen. It looks like a deer under the headlights, leaving us wondering what does Does Lisa know ?!
