Meryl Streep says “Miranda will return” to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ sequel

Meryl Streep is on board for The Devil Wears Prada continuation.

The star of the 2006 film took to social media to share a post in which she confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Miranda Priestly.

“Miranda wants to come back,” read the caption on Instagram.

Earlier this week, Deadline reported that Disney was developing a sequel to The Devil Wears Pradastarring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. Aline Brosh McKenna was chosen to write the screenplay.

The 2006 film, directed by David Frankel, is based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. It centers on fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, played by Streep. Hathaway plays Andy, a college graduate looking for an opportunity who becomes Miranda’s second assistant. The Devil Wears Prada It also starred Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier and more.

In 2022, Hathaway was skeptical about a sequel happening, but reflected on where the characters would stand now.

“It’s tempting to think that Andy and Emily need to get Miranda coffee and she’s somewhere in Europe. And then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who’s at a restaurant. “It’s tempting, but I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Hathaway said in an interview on The view in 2022.

Earlier this year at the SAG Awards, there was a The Devil Wears Prada reunion with Streep, Hathaway and Blunt taking the stage to present the first award of the night.
