Nigerian Anams Lillian wins Benin Republic Women’s League title – News Block

Nigerian goalkeeper Anams Lillian won the 2022/2023 Benin Republic Women’s League title with Sam Nelly FC SportsRation reports.

The former Ibom Angels FC of Uyo goalkeeper was nearly perfect throughout the regular season and Championship playoff to secure the Benin Republic Women’s League title win for Sam Nelly FC.

Anams Lillian joined the league champions before the start of the season in December 2022.

During the regular season, the Nigerian goalkeeper kept six clean sheets in seven games for manager Hounkponou Frederic instructed Sam Nelly FC to secure a playoff spot.

Anams Lillian continued her impressive run in the playoffs, helping Sam Nelly FC win seven of the eight games they played to defeat second-placed Espoir FC for the league title.

Sam Nelly FC will go on to represent the Republic of Benin in the 2023/2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, a first continental appearance for the Nigerian goalkeeper.

The Ivory Coast will host the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League, but to be one of eight teams in the final, the Republic of Benin Women’s League champions must first overcome challenges in the zonal playoffs.

In reaction to her first league title, the goalkeeper took to her social media account with a message of gratitude to God along with photos of the title celebration.
