NLC: Officials give conditions to the government to end the strike – News Block

Plateau state officials have stated their condition to call off the ongoing strike, saying the government must pay the balance of their February and March salaries.

Mr. Eugene Manji, the Nigerian Labor Congress, NLC, Chairman in the state, revealed this on Wednesday in Jos, the state capital.

On May 11, civil servants began an indefinite strike due to the government’s non-compliance with their demands for payment of salaries and other rights.

However, Manji said the industrial action would be canceled when the workers began to receive their wages as agreed.

Speaking to the Nigerian News Agency, NAN, Manji said: “He finally agreed to pay, but not until after verification of the actual strength of civil service personnel.

“If after verification and we establish the willingness and commitment to pay, we will meet with the workers and consider the possibility of suspending the strike.

“We are monitoring the assessment, which started on Tuesday, and if our members start receiving their bank credit alerts as the government has promised, we will call a meeting.”
