After Monday’s victory in the Nitto ATP Finals against Casper Ruud, Novak Djokovic was awarded the n. 1 of the ATP at the end of the year 2021 during a presentation on the field at the Pala Alpitour in Turin.
Novak took first place in the ATP year-end rankings for the seventh time!
The Serbian star, who finished as number 1 in the world for the seventh time in the past 11 years (also 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2020), has now surpassed his childhood idol and model Pete Sampras for most years – end # 1 in the history of the ATP ranking.
Novak enjoyed another outstanding season, clinching five titles, including three Grand Slam championships (Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon), an ATP Masters 1000 crown (Rolex Paris Masters) and a triumph in an ATP 250 event ( Belgrade Open 2). Djokovic also played in the finals of the Italian Open and the US Open.
