World number one Novak Djokovic has begun his quest for a sixth record Rolex Paris Masters the title by winning Tuesday night against the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.
The Serbian ace recorded a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win in two hours to advance to the third round at Bercy Palais-Omnisport.
In his first official singles match since the US Open final, Novak broke four times from 11 opportunities, while his rival converted both of the break point chances he earned during their fourth head-to-head match. Djokovic now holds a perfect 4-0 record.
Match statistics: ace (3-8), double fouls (0-6), total points won (94-74).
Novak will face seed number 15 Gael Monfils (17-0 H2H) who beat Adrian Mannarino in an all-French match.
In the doubles competition, Nole and Filip Krajinovic lost to # 6 seeded John Peers (AUS) and Filip Polasek (SVK) 6-7, 4-6 in the second round.
