QMJHL Roundup: Tigres has ruled out Foreurs for the second consecutive win

VAL-D’OR, Que. – Nikolas Hurtubise stopped all 26 shots for the shutout and the Victoriaville Tigres beat Val-d’Or Foreurs 4-0 on Saturday for a second consecutive QMJHL win.

Conor Frenette, with two, Olivier Coulombe and Loick Daigle scored for the Tigres (7-8-2). Vincent Sevigny and Tommy Cormier intervened with two assists each.

William Blackburn deflected 27 discs and lost to Foreurs (7-7-1).

It was a battle between the last two Western Conference teams.

BATHURST, NB – Jacob Melanson scored twice and Jan Bednar made 30 saves for Acadie-Bathurst (8-7-2), which went 2 for 4 in power play. Xavier Bourgault scored a hat-trick in the third period in the loss to Shawinigan (10-5-2).

SAINT JOHN, NB. – Fabrice Fortin scored with 48 seconds left in the third period and Felix Lafrance added an empty net 39 seconds later as Chicoutimi (7-7-3) doubled Saint John (8-7-2) for a second consecutive win.

ISLANDS 5 EAGLES 2

SYDNEY, NS – Conference leaders Charlottetown Islanders (7-5-1) scored five goals from 42 shots in a lopsided match. Cape Breton (4-10-4) went out 17-3 only in the first period.
