Rachel Maddow discharges both barrels exposing Josh Hawley and the illegal NRA scheme

Rachel Maddow highlighted the Giffords lawsuit which accused the NRA of making $ 35 million in illegal contributions to Republicans like Josh Hawley and Trump.

Maddow said of the it causes:

A judge ordered the FEC to act. The FEC did not act. When the FEC did not act, the the judge said, okay, you can sue them in private, so now them to have. This brand new cause names the NRA but also specifically Josh Hawley’s campaign and the another Republican’s campaign they claim coordinated illegally with the NRA, a member of Congress called Matt Rosendale who lost his run to the senate in Montana for Jon Tester, the Democrat senator.

They are also appointed to the senate Thom Tillis campaigns, Tom cotton from Arkansas, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin e former Colorado Republican Senator Cory Gardner. The NRA has undertaken a scheme in progress to circumvent the campaign finance the contributions of coordinate advertising with at at least seven candidates for federal office.

Through this scheme, two NRAs affiliates made up to $ 35 millions in illegal, excessive, and campaign not reported contributions in 2014 elections 2016 and 2018, including up to $ 25 million a Trump’s campaign in 2016. $ 25 million in illegal donations to the Trump campaign in 2016? Besides, all those Republicans senators? This seems like a big deal on a a few different levels. For one, these are no big deal groups may have found a way to actually perhaps impose the campaign financial law that was wild west for years now why the federal agency that is should oversee this stuff is functionally dead

. But 35 million dollars is also a lot money. This is a lot of presumably illegal money running around Republican campaigns. That’s enough money for potentially they had an important effect on the result of multiple elections.

The contributions were clearly illegal and the Republicans and the NRA thought they would never be caught. Claire McCaskill lost the Senate race against Josh Hawley, and while Hawley could have won without the illegal NRA money, we’ll never know for sure how much illegal donations have helped.

Republicans thought they had it all figured out and could break the law with impunity, but the Giffords lawsuit could have broken the code.
