German journalist Susanna Ohlen has been suspended by RTL television network after being caught on camera smearing herself with mud before reporting on a devastating flood.
At least 165 people died from the floods in Germany last week.
A passerby surprised the reporter by wiping mud on her clothes for a piece the network published titled “Cleaning up after the flood: RTL host Susanna Ohlen helps out in Bad Münstereifel.”

The network responded to the video by announcing that Ohlen had been suspended.

For her part, Ohlen apologized on Instagram, claiming she was embarrassed to be seen in clean clothes in front of rescuers.
