Rivian Goes Public: Will Openbay Provide Electric Vehicle Services to Automotive Services Market?

First the big news, Rivian left public yesterday (November 10, 2021) making all kinds of headlines and breaking records. In 2019 Openbay members attended the New York International Auto Show. Rivan was on display and we were able to take some photos and a video of a passing vehicle.

Openbay is currently servicing plug-in hybrid vehicles in its nationwide automotive service market. As electric vehicles enter higher percentages of vehicles in operation on US roads, the demand for assistance will increase. Independent automotive service providers will need to invest in technology skills and equipment for the maintenance of electric vehicles. Yes, they still need assistance. With this investment, stores could be forced to increase their hourly labor rate due to the level of skills required to maintain an electric vehicle.

Electric vehicles have many mechanical parts that wear out and need maintenance or replacement from time to time, although not as frequent as pure gasoline vehicles. There will be faults in the electrical components that will need to be diagnosed and eventually replaced.

Openbay will expand its platform to promote automotive service providers with the skills and equipment to assist electric vehicles when demand increases. Openbay prides itself on its ability to act as an intermediary between consumers with unique service needs for their personal vehicle and local automotive service centers. Service centers are not all the same. Openbay matches consumers who have a specific service need for their specific vehicle of the year with automotive service providers who can provide that service for that specific model year vehicle of that consumer. A perfect match!

The journey ahead will be a fun ride for everyone.
