Samsung announces new 5K monitor – News Block

Samsung has just announced a new 5k monitor that looks absolutely stunning.

This is the ViewFinity S9. It is a 27 inch 5k monitor with a resolution of 51 20 by 28 80. It is an IPS display, 60 Hz response time, 5 milliseconds, 1000 to 1 ratio and is aimed at professionals, photographers, video editors, etc.

With 99% DCI-P3¹ and 218 pixels per inch, it delivers more saturated, vivid colors with sharper details—perfect for those who rely on visual fidelity.² Also, a typical brightness of 600 cd/m² makes it easy to work in almost any lighting environment. The monitor can also be calibrated via your smartphone, an industry first.

“Our new 5K monitor is designed to provide the highest performance and best experience for professionals in the creative and visual industries,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the ViewFinity line, we will provide creatives with world-class visual experiences, along with the lifelike color clarity and versatile connectivity they need to achieve their best in any project.”

Unsurprisingly, this won’t be cheap, with prices rumored to be around $1600. It looks good, it seems like it will perform fantastically, but at that price point, in my opinion, you really want or need it.
