Selena Gomez asks for kindness after recent Hailey Bieber interview

Selena Gomez says she’s not here for the negativity.

Earlier this week, Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, opened up about the Podcast “Call his dad” about the hate she’s received from some Gomez fans since she and her husband first got engaged.

Without naming Hailey, Gomez appeared to respond to the model’s comments in a TikTok Live on Thursday.

“It’s not fair because you should never talk to anyone the way I’ve seen,” Gomez said.

He called it “ironic” that some of his followers back his Rare Beauty line and the Rare Impact Fund, but ignore his message of goodwill behind those projects.

“That’s exactly what I want,” Gomez said. “If you support Rare, I can’t thank you enough, but know that you’re also standing for what it stands for…and that is that words matter, they really matter. I hope you understand that this is much bigger than anything else.”

Gomez and Justin Bieber dated on and off for eight years. They broke up in 2018. A few months later, he and Hailey Bieber, whom he had previously dated, got engaged.

Hailey Bieber said on the podcast that the perception that she was involved in Justin and Gomez’s split is incorrect.

“The perpetuation comes from the misperception, ‘Oh, you stole it,'” he said. “It comes from the fact that they wished he was done with someone else and that’s fine. You can wish for anything you want, but that’s not the case.”

Gomez has previously asked her fans to be respectful in a 2019 Instagram Live.

“I don’t defend women who bring women down. And I will never, ever be for it. So please be nice to everyone.” Gomez said at the time. “It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you are my fans, please don’t be rude to anyone. Don’t go and say things that you just feel in the moment.”
