The Simone Biles 2021 Olympics are not over yet. She is planning a comeback competition for the last day of the individual gymnastics event finals after missing most of the Olympics to date.
USA Gymnastics confirmed on Twitter that Biles plans to participate in the balance beam final on Tuesday. Biles will join fellow American and gold winner Suni Lee on the plane.
We are very excited to confirm that you will see two American athletes in the balance beam final tomorrow: Suni Lee AND Simone Biles! Can’t wait to see you both!

Biles had not participated in any events since he withdrew from the team final after a jump. She confirmed that she was dealing with “twisties,” a mental block that prevents gymnasts from knowing where they are when they move through the air. That caused him to withdraw from the full final, as well as from three individual event finals: the jump, the uneven bars and the floor exercises.
“Honestly, it’s petrifying to do a skill and not have mind and body in sync,” Biles wrote on Instagram about his battle with twists. “10/10 I don’t recommend it.”
She added, “It’s the craziest feeling ever. Not having an inch of control over your body.”
Despite those struggles, he will return to the beam in hopes of winning another Olympic medal.
Biles has already won a silver medal after the United States finished second in the women’s team competition. If he can get a medal on the balance beam, it will be the seventh Olympic medal of his career. That would link her more to Shannon Miller for an American gymnast during a run.
Biles finished seventh in the standings for the beam with a mark of 14,066. It was less than 0.3 points behind second-highest ranked Xijing Tang of China (14,333), and was behind top ranked Chenchen Guan of China (14,933), by just under 0.9 points for first place.
Will Biles get a top three finish in this event? It’s not a guarantee, but at least he will have a chance to close out his 2021 Olympics and, most likely, his Olympic career with a final medal.
