Sixers reach No. 1 seed in the East with win over Magic

Seth Curry scored 20 points, Shake Milton added 15 and host Philadelphia 76ers clinched first place in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 122-97 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Joel Embiid contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Ben Simmons had 13 points and nine assists for the Sixers (48-23), who will round out the 72-game regular season with another game against the Magic on Sunday before the games begin. playoffs.

The Sixers improved to 28-7 at home.

The Sixers played without key backup Dwight Howard, who was suspended after being charged with his 16th technical foul in Thursday’s road loss to the Miami Heat.

The Magic missed 10 3-pointers in a row during a stretch between the second and third quarters and fell behind 70-51. Curry and Green then hit back-to-back triples for the Sixers and the lead shot up to 25.

The pitch clocks were not ticking for most of the third quarter as announcer Matt Cord announced the time remaining for each possession.

Philadelphia had a 96-69 lead at the end of the third.

Brazdeikis scored five in a row, a jump shot and a deep triple, yet the Magic were still down 102-76 with 6:58 remaining in the fourth.
