Skip Bayless often says inflammatory things to get attention, but he had a reasonable opinion on some breaking news.

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has withdrawn from Team USA as it prepares for the 2024 Summer Olympics and has been replaced by Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, and Bayless had plenty to say about the situation.

A quote in a tweet from “Undisputed” was sensational, as Bayless pointed out how co-host Keyshawn Johnson was the one who said, “The Clippers can’t stand in the way of patriotism.”

Bayless took the other side and said, “I got him, but they’re paying him $50 million, but the biggest thing is they just put all their eggs and all their basketballs in his basket.”

Bayless added that it makes sense for the Clippers to intervene on their player, given the fact that Leonard just suffered another knee injury and it would not be wise for him to play grueling games for Team USA this summer.

Bayless also noted that it’s that much more important for Leonard to stay healthy now that the Clippers have lost Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers, and as unfortunate as it is, it doesn’t make sense for Leonard to be playing in the Olympics just a couple of months after missing NBA playoff games due to his injury.

White replaced Leonard and will be the third Celtics player on Team USA, joining Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday of the 2024 NBA champions.

It’s a shame Leonard had to drop out, but it seems to be the right decision for his health.
