Slack is rolling out a new scheduled send feature that will allow users to schedule a time to send messages in the future.
The advertised feature today and first reported by The edgeis probably most useful for people whose computers are in different time zones. Someone could schedule a message to be sent when someone else is available, for example, rather than risk missing a message.
When you have an important message to share on Slack but it’s not yet the best time to send it, you can schedule it. Select a date and time in the future and rest assured that your message will be delivered whether you are at your desk or on the go.
Sending a scheduled message will be as simple as pressing and holding green Send on mobile device or by clicking a new drop-down menu next to it on Mac and Windows. Users will be able to select preconfigured schedules or enter their own as needed.
It’s fair to say that Slack isn’t one of the best Mac apps, but it’s one that many of us have to deal with day after day. Features like this are very welcome because they make it easy to work on remote teams, and that’s surely what Slack is here to do.
