The time has come for Paramount and Hasbro to try to relaunch the GI Joe franchise on the big screen. Weather GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra other GI Joe: Retaliation Both got decent box office numbers, neither was a significant enough success to launch a full-blown franchise. Rather than grow larger, the studio is downscaling a bit by snapping a prequel photo that examines the origins of the fan favorite. SNAKE EYES.
Now, you can’t deny that for the hardcore G.I. Joe fans, this has been a controversial movie from day one. Many have not felt that Henry Golding’s casting was true to the character’s origins, nor are they content with the fact that Snake EyesAlways covering his face and never speaking, he is now a skilled and attractive action hero. Early reviews have been mixed to negative, with a 40% The Rotten Tomatoes score, while our reviewer, Jimmy O, didn’t like it at all. On the other hand, our boy Gaius Boiling made the trip and enjoyed the movie very much, including Henry Golding’s performance, a sentiment that seems to be echoed by many reviews. A lot of people seem to like the cast, including Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow and (especially) Samara Weaving as Scarlett.
The common consensus seems to be that the cast and cinematography are good, but the editing and action scenes leave a lot to be desired. In any case, now is the time for YOU, the fans, to step in.
