A Sam Fisher for the times

A new job listing on Ubisoft’s careers page indicates the fragmented cell The remake will modify the story of the original. Specifically, they are considering updating it for a “modern” audience.

as seen by power supplyscreenwriter who opens for the fragmented cell remake is open in ubisoft site. As well as working on the Snowdrop engine to rebuild a stealth classic, it looks like the writing team will also be retooling the narrative.

Here is an excerpt from the list:

“Using the first fragmented cell game as our foundation, we are rewriting and updating history for a modern audience. We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and world to make them more authentic and believable. As a writer for Ubisoft Toronto, you will join the Narrative team and help create a cohesive and compelling narrative experience for a new audience of fragmented cell fans.”

It’s not clear what that entails, other than the possibility of incorporating modern ideas into the spy story. Perhaps Sam will have to quietly distribute food deliveries along his intended route. Or maybe he gets distracted during a crucial moment when one of his tweets goes viral. We live in really strange times.

The return of fragmented cell

the fragmented cell remake was confirmed in the end of 2021. Ubisoft Toronto is leading the development of the new version, using the same Snowdrop engine. Avatar: Pandora’s Frontiers.

However, the team has been pretty quiet since then apart from confirming a few things. the new old fragmented cell It will still be linear and not open world, so in a way it definitely feels like they are sticking to the original.

Still, a “modern” story for Sam has me curious, to say the least. I hope we learn more about it. fragmented cell redo soon.
