MANILA, Philippines – San Beda and José Rizal University captured gold in the online poomsae competition of the NCAA 96 season taekwondo tournament.
Alfritz Arevalo and Emie Fernandez of the Red Lions Lady Bombers took gold in the men’s and women’s divisions in standard poomsae, respectively.
Arévalo, a native of Baguio City, won gold after his performance scored him 7,217 points to beat silver medalist van Murray Solimen of College of St. Benilde (7,134 points) and bronze winner Roi Vinson Belano of Letran (7,083).
Fernández, meanwhile, accumulated 7,550 points for her performance by defeating Diane Nicole Supangan of CSB, who scored 7,284 to win the silver medal, and Lara Alejandrea Andrés de San Beda, who had 6,867 points to settle for bronze.
The Standard Junior and Freestyle events will continue to be played, while the kick kick competition will take place from June 15 to July 5.
