“Blue’s Clues” host Steve finally talks about his exit from the show in 2002

Burns appeared in a clip for Nick Jr. celebrating the 25th anniversary of “Blue’s Clues” in September.

Wearing his signature green striped shirt, he started: “One day I thought, ‘Oh, hey, guess what? Great news, I’m leaving … and we haven’t seen each other in a long time? Can we just talk about this? “

While Burns agreed that his departure was “a little abrupt,” he revealed that his character went to college while focusing on a musical career.

“Now I’m literally doing a lot of the things I wanted to do,” he said. “I really couldn’t have done all this without your help.”

Adding: “I’ve never forgotten you. Never.”

“Blue’s Clues” premiered on Nick Jr. on September 8, 1996. After Burns’ departure in 2002, Donovan Patton took over the role of host of “Joe”, so Joshua Dela Cruz got the gig when the show was restarted as “Blue’s Clues And You”.
