For the 2021 series, Neil teamed up with Nina Wadia, and sadly, the couple was there first to be eliminated.
However, with former English footballer Alex, Neil has almost reached the final.
The pair made it to week 11, coming in fifth in 2019.
And, in a chat with Entertainment Daily earlier this year, he admitted they’re still friends.
BBC Strictly: What did Neil say about Alex?
Speaking of their friendship, she said, “With Alex it’s ongoing.”
She also responded to the backlash the star suffered when her name was in the frame to take over from Sue Barker in A Question of Sport.
“She’s a talented woman who knows what she’s doing, so there will always be people out there who won’t like it.
“They don’t like change, they don’t love anything different.
“I am always so happy for her and so proud because she conveys a positivity and an energy that anything is possible.
“Dancing with her was an inspiration for me too. We have this thing, me and her, we are friends for life. “
What was it like being Alex’s partner?
He said: “He had a little talent, he had a pace that was good but he worked hard.
“We were doing 13 hours a day and she was doing it.”
However, he admitted that the couple had “a lot of trouble”, with the huge amount of dancing taking over.
“He had a lot of problems with his ankles and the stiffness of his body, so we always had to find a way to try and make him look good.
“But she loves to dance,” he added.
