The popular adage of success in attracting many friends is Ghana’s testimony after the change of allegiance of Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu.

Stephan Ambrosius, Patrick Pfeffer and Ransford Yeboah are also qualified to represent the Ghana Black Stars as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku is the man who will effectively explain the difference in FIFA World Cup qualification that he has brought to his discussions with the stars.

The GFA president at various times over the last two years had discussions with these players about representing the country of their birth, but each time received lukewarm responses.

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has been courted by the Black Stars for three years.

Mohamed Salisu, Southampton defender

Most recently, during the build-up to AFCON 2021, GFA chief Simeon Okruaku’s advances were rebuffed by the defender, who told Federation representatives that he has no intention of playing for Ghana.

According to Salisu, the country had deserted him during the difficult early years of his career and therefore he does not deserve his services.

Ghana suffered an agonizing exit from the group stage at AFCON 2021 and was labeled an underdog when they drew with Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

A 0-0 result in the first leg in Ghana was followed by a 1-1 scoreline in the second leg in Abuja that gave Ghana a ticket to the World Cup with away goals over arch-rivals Nigeria. .

Armed with success, the Ghana Football Association reopened talks with Atletico Bilbao striker Inaki Williams, Brighton and Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey and Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu.

Like a rich boyfriend, the Ghana Football Federation came up with the opportunity to star in the world’s biggest football event, the ‘FIFA World Cup’. This time the offer was one every footballer dreams of, so the new Ghanaian football sweetheart in quick succession said YES to the Black Stars.

The elated president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, took to Twitter to announce the success of the discussions and thanked all those who contributed to their accomplishment.

The additions are massive reinforcements for Otto Addo’s options ahead of the World Cup, although there are still questions about how much commitment these boys will invest while representing the Black Stars.

Like friends who come in good times, the motivation could be the generosity of the success that the World Cup appearance represents. What happens when success disappears is a mystery that only time will reveal.

Ghana will face heavyweights Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H as they try to improve on their quarter-final result in 2010.

Success is good. This writer hopes that Iñaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu will make a positive contribution in helping the Black Stars achieve success in the World Cup of Ghana Soccer and African Soccer in general.
