We all know that T-Pain is like the king of autotuning. He was often made fun of, but T-Pain walked so other artists could run.
While many of his singles are considered classics today, T-Pain faced an onslaught of backlash for his sound. However, you can’t listen to a Rap playlist without listening to track after track in which an artist uses autotuning to the fullest; and T-Pain believes that it has influenced the culture.
Some artists use automatic tuning because they cannot actually sing. However, did you know that T-Pain can really explode?
Also, T-Pain caught up with Black girl nerds where he shares his thoughts on autotuning today. He shares that he is not bothered by the “jokes and comments” about his use of autotune. This is because it has been replicated in music today.
“The way it spreads and the way everyone uses it now lets me know that I’ve been doing the right thing from the beginning, because if I wasn’t doing the right thing, no one else would have done it. Why would you copy something that is wrong? I know I’ve been doing the right thing from the beginning. “
When asked if he thinks he has influenced autotuning, he replies: “Absolutely.” He added,
“He has not gone anywhere. It was no different. And the fact that people, even newer artists, still use it and people use it and still use it. He knew he was doing the right thing. I needed everyone else to notice. “
The music icon also spoke about his Delay with Lil Jon and said that after he finished his phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Check out T-Pain’s full interview with Black girl nerds below. As always, stay tuned for more updates!
