In India, a garment made headlines earlier this week. This time, again, it was the humble jeans that were accused of corroding “Indian culture.” At least that’s what the newly sworn Uttarakhand Prime Minister Tirath Singh Rawat believes. Because he questioned the values of a woman, whom he saw wearing ripped jeans, claiming that by wearing such an outfit, they send a “wrong message to society and children.”
Naturally, it led to a feverish debate on social media, with many people calling him for his comments “sexist”. And now, writer and director Tahira Kashyap Khurrana has joined the fight, albeit in her own style. He shared a post on Instagram that reflected his bold personality and sense of humor.
It appears to be a throwback image, in which Tahira has donned a blue and white floral bikini, flaunting her shaved head. He appears to be standing by a pool, wearing a pair of sunglasses.
“At least not wearing ripped jeans 🤐🤭 (sic),” the post has captioned, cleverly alluding to the fact that women in the country feel embarrassed by everything they choose to wear and not.
Not long ago, Tahira was facing a battle with cancer and had shared her recovery process on social media. The post could be from that time, as she has also written the words “bold”, “rude” and “bikini” in the image, which has the image of Dua Lipa.Levitating‘playing in the background.
Nonetheless, we love that women continue to wear and flaunt whatever they feel comfortable in, despite the regressive comments made to them.
