Teachers’ unions will not obey President Akuffo Addo’s decision on reopening schools – News Block

The Ghana teachers’ union has decided to challenge the government’s reopening of schools if it is implemented.

They said that if the deadline for the closure of all public and private schools, which is May 31, 2020, is not extended and instead the Akuffo regime decides to reopen the schools, they will not accept it.

Looking at the exponential rise of the pandemic and schools being where students and teachers associate with each other most of the time, they will not expose students and their staff to such danger.

Currently, Ghana’s cases are approaching 6,000. The deadly virus is getting serious in the country and such decisions would be irrational.
