The BMW iX now it can finally be configured on the BMW USA website. The online configurator is now active and you can use it to create your perfect combination and then also order the car. The main problem here, however, is that orders will take some time to deliver. Officially, the iX will arrive in the US next year, so there’s a bit of a wait too. And that’s if things go well with suppliers.

In case you forgot, BMW is also affected by the microchip shortage we’re all experiencing right now and things don’t get resolved anytime soon. BMW even had to take some options off the shelves in order to continue producing cars, from head-up displays to touch-sensitive screens on some cars. However, whenever there is a challenge somewhere, opportunities also arise. Therefore, despite these strong headwinds, BMW has managed to become even more profitable during these difficult times.

This is because they prioritized expensive cars on production lines so that profit margins were higher. The BMW iX falls into that category. According to the online configurator, the price starts at $ 83,200 in the US and that’s for the xDrive50 model, which is the only one to top the tin for now. This is a 516 horsepower electric SUV with all-wheel drive and a 0-60 of 4.4 seconds. The included battery has a usable capacity of 105 kWh and an estimated range of 300 miles.

Enter the configurator and you will soon notice that the price tag will increase quite fast. The Sport package is definitely worth the money, as it makes the car more aggressive, adds 21 ″ wheels to the mix and Shadowline exterior finishes. For $ 2,800, it’s worth it. There are many free colors included for the iX, such as Phytonic Blue or Blue Ridge Mountain. If you want something a little more special, it will cost you $ 1,950. You also have a huge range of wheels available, upping the size to 22 ″, setting you back $ 950.

Leather will also cost you $ 2,450 but, if you want to be ‘sustainable’, we recommend the $ 500 Microfiber / Wool Stonegrey blend. To top it off, the Premium package should also be ticked, at $ 4,000 and the final price should be around $ 95,000, which isn’t bad at all, considering the amount of cars you’re actually getting for that money.
