The Catholic Health Association on Friday joined the growing chorus of major health associations and health systems that support or implement employee COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

The American Hospital Association announced Wednesday that it supports hospitals and healthcare systems that require COVID-19 vaccines for their employees. The AHA represents nearly 5,000 hospitals and health systems.
The Association of American Medical Universities last week urged its member medical schools and university hospitals to require their workers to be vaccinated.
Individual healthcare providers have also announced their own mandates, including Charlotte, NC-based Atrium Health, Trinity Health in Livonia, Michigan, and Boston’s Mass General Brigham.
CHA’s Haddad went on to say that the high level of vaccinations creates the possible need to reinstate restrictions to stop the spread of the virus.

CHA membership includes more than 600 hospitals and 1,600 long-term care and other health care facilities.
