Right after running our Phantom limbs article covering the director’s story F. Javier Gutiérrezunproduced remake of The Raven (read here), Bloody Disgusting has garnered exclusive looks from the protagonists of that project with Eric Draven’s iconic black and white makeup.
The first image is a conceptual artwork featuring Avengers/Loki star Tom Hiddleston on the Raven face paint, which was created by the project’s makeup designer Bill corso. As you can see, Hiddleston would have been a good match for the film’s hero, who was originally played by Brandon Lee in Alex Proyas’ 1994 film adaptation of James O’Barr’s graphic novel.
As noted in the Phantom Limbs article, Mr. Hiddleston eventually left the project and was replaced by Untold dracula star Luke evans, seen here in another bit of concept art created by Mr. Corso for the film. As with Hiddleston’s makeup, special care was taken to make the nose scar in the graphic novel more prominent than in the original ’94 film.
Mr. Gutiérrez says about the work seen here: “We tried to make it as faithful as possible to the graphic novel. Grounded and with attention to detail (wanted to show the scar). Bill is brilliant and did an amazing job. “
So what do you think? Speak up in the comment section below and tell us your thoughts on these actors and how they look like Eric!
A special thanks to F. Javier Gutierrez and Bill Corso.
