New York Giants fans can rejoice.
Saquon Barkley is expected to drop off the cubs list this week and start practicing, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
The Giants have been cautious of Barkley during his recovery from a season-ending knee injury suffered during the 2020 season. The 24-year-old has a torn ACL in addition to sustaining meniscus damage.
Giants head coach Joe Judge reiterated during the offseason that the team would not rush Barkley back onto the field and said last week that the star running back is “making a lot of progress. ”
Penn State’s product was limited to just two games in 2020 due to the knee injury. In 2019, he rushed for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns with 52 receptions for 438 yards and two touchdowns.
It’s unclear if Barkley will be ready to dress for Week 1 when the Giants take on the Denver Broncos on Sept. 12.
