Words from Driune Santana
“I am healthy; I am rich”, “I am protected, highly respected” and “I am rich”. These are the statements that have marked the daily lives of women around the world.
Most recently, Yung Baby Tate delivered a landmark music video for his track “I Am,” which, along with Alabama native Flo Milli, brings together these claims for one of the most memorable outptus of the year to date. Directed by Andre Muir, the colorful and vibrant image begins with 24-year-old Tate walking towards a mirror and wasting no time immersing herself in the fascinating chorus, while showing different eras of herself. Not only does the Atlanta native treat us to addictive choreography courtesy of Sakinah LeStage, but he also showcases a variety of ’90s-inspired styles.
YBT took to Instagram, thanking their creative team for their participation in the project in a mail expressing how grateful she was for the time and effort put into her video, as well as her career.
“I cried last night after watching this video, surrounded by all my friends, family and loved ones because we have come SO far, but I know we still have a long way to go! Ok, my acceptance speech is over. I love you all. “
The image follows the release of his EP, After the Rain, released in December 2020. Yung Baby Tate first entered the music scene in 2015 with his debut EP. ROYGBIV, beginning a journey that would lead to a contract signed with Issa Rae’s Raedio label last year.
