ABC’s talk show “The View” went off the rails once again on Friday when the show’s co-hosts got into a massive fight over the Second Amendment.
Liberal co-host Sunny Hostin claimed during the discussion that the Second Amendment is rooted in racism and was “designed to protect slavery,” while conservative co-host Meghan McCain praised it as a “cornerstone” of what she feels like. “America should be.”
Hostin attacks the second amendment
When asked by Joy Behar what the heart of “America’s gun problem” feels like, Hostin replied: “I think it’s a cultural problem and … for decades, the NRA has pushed for legislation that not only supported the possession of many weapons and the proliferation of weapons, “but it also stifled the study and dissemination of information on the causes of armed violence.”
“I’m reading an amazing book called ‘The Second’ by Professor Carol Anderson, and she describes that … the right to bear arms was designed to protect slavery because our founding fathers and others wanted to be able to empower a local militia group to basically put down a slave revolt and protect the plantation owners, ”continued Hostin.
He went on to claim that gun sales are increasing in the black community due to white supremacy, the pandemic, and police violence. She claimed that this is why people feel insecure, rather than blaming the rise in national crime.

McCain shoots again
McCain, however, did not accept any of that.
“Well, what makes me feel unsafe is the increase in crime,” McCain said, according to Fox News. “But you don’t see people fleeing Arizona. In fact, Arizona is winning a new seat in Congress because a lot of people from California want to come to Arizona because of the different kinds of laws. “

“You are not seeing people flooding in places like New York City, you are seeing them flooding in places like Florida and Texas and that’s because of the crime spikes and other things that happened after the pandemic,” he added.
McCain later took a defiant stance in favor of the Second Amendment.
“I am a gun owner, I am a member of the NRA, I am proud to be both,” she said. “I don’t think I ever want to be lectured by people who don’t own guns, who didn’t grow up in the gun culture, who don’t understand why women like me want to be armed.”
“It’s a very difficult thing to understand for people who don’t believe in it,” added McCain. “But going forward, I will always vote for anyone and any party that continues to defend the Second Amendment, no matter what. It is the cornerstone of who I am and what I believe America should be. “
