The White House admits they are actively working with Facebook to flag ‘misinformation’

Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed that the White House is working with Facebook to flag ‘misinformation’ regarding vaccines and COVID-19 on Thursday, prompting a torrent of criticism.

Psaki is surprising admission, a coordinated effort by the government to control information in conjunction with a major private social media company, borders on something that could be heard in a country that uses state media.

“We are in regular contact with social media platforms and those engagements generally occur through members of our senior staff and also members of our COVID-19 team,” Psaki told reporters.

“We have increased the investigation and monitoring of misinformation within the Office of the Surgeon General,” he added. “We are flagging problematic Facebook posts that spread misinformation.”

The White House press secretary continued to publicly pressure Facebook saying they “need to move more quickly to remove harmful violating posts.”

White House works with Facebook to censor ‘disinformation’

Aside from the obvious parallels to the way communist dictators use the media to control information, one of the most glaring problems that arises is the potential for error in censoring “misinformation” and doing it “quickly.”

Bloomberg News recently reported on the problem Facebook themselves had in “prematurely debunking” the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese government laboratory in Wuhan.

Facebook tried to suppress any discussion of the lab leak theory for months, only to have to backtrack when the theory began to gain traction and credibility shortly thereafter.

“In light of ongoing investigations into the origin of COVID-19 and in consultation with public health experts, we will no longer remove the claim that COVID-19 is man-made from our applications,” said one spokesperson for the the company said.

The World Health Organization this week accepted they had discarded the theory of the laboratory leak too soon.

That alone is evidence that social media and mainstream media shouldn’t be working in tandem with the government to suppress the information, and most likely they shouldn’t be doing it ‘quickly’ in a rush to control the narrative.

It would seem that the White House is more interested in getting ahead of what they want the American people to know and to hell with the consequences if the truth comes out in the future.

RELATED: Psaki: Joe Biden Believes Social Media Platforms Have A Responsibility To Block ‘Untrusted’ Content

Merger of government and corporate power

Psaki’s admission that the White House is working with Facebook to suppress information comes just two months after he suggested that President Biden would support such an effort.

“The president’s view is that major platforms have a responsibility for the health and safety of all Americans, to stop amplifying untrustworthy content, misinformation and misinformation, especially in relation to COVID-19, vaccines and elections, ”he said.

Not only are they pointing out misinformation but, as Daily caller notes, the White House “is also asking Facebook to share data on the scope and participation of posts deemed misinformative.”

Critics slammed the administration for its terrifying confirmation that they are coordinating with Big Tech on what Americans can and cannot see in regards to vaccines or the pandemic.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald described the “union of corporate and state power” as “one of the classic hallmarks of fascism.”

“If you are not deeply disturbing that the White House is ‘flagging’ Internet content that they consider ‘problematic’ for your Facebook allies to remove, then you are definitely an authoritarian,” he added.

“No other information about you is needed to know that.”

Journalist Matt Taibbi had a more nuanced response to Psaki’s comments.

“This is so screwed up,” he tweeted. “Amazing.”

How do you think the left would react if former President Trump, through Kayleigh McEnany, had admitted to censoring what they considered ‘disinformation’ on Facebook?

Taibbi openly wondered how the left would react if it didn’t come from the Biden administration.

Where is the outrage? For Biden fans, are you excited that a possible future Republican president will do this? ” I ask.

Earlier this week, a shocking new report indicated that groups aligned with President Biden, including the DNC, are lobbying text message carriers to help monitor ‘misinformation’ about vaccines.

“Biden’s allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee,” Politico reported, are “planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS providers to dispel misinformation about vaccines being shipped through. from social media and texting. “

The monitoring won’t stop anytime soon.

Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson recently made headlines with pleadings that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been spying on him.

Carlson reportedly had his name “unmasked” in communications allegedly seeking an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year.

In addition, a report emerged earlier this year indicating that the Biden administration was considering a partnership with private companies to monitor Americans online for alleged “extremist talk.”

How long do you think it will be before they start saying all of the above (vaccine “disinformation,” attempts by the media to speak to Russian leaders, or “extremist talks” online) that will lead to another January 6?

And who exactly is wading the sea of information online and determining what is and what is not true?

Ironically, if Trump had implemented a similar effort to discredit ‘disinformation’, Facebook might have had to censor Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, who repeatedly rejected to commit to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine because they did not trust the man who delivered them.

“I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump, and he would have to be a credible source of information that talks about the efficacy and reliability of whatever he is talking about,” Harris said of vaccines last September.

“They are recklessly endangering lives,” Trump said at the time. “You can not do that”.

Facebook had no problems with what “disinformation,” but he will actively work with those same people to censor the American people.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
