MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines highlighted Friday that Bo Perasol remains the head coach of its men’s basketball program.
The school made the announcement after various reports indicated that Perasol had resigned from his position.
“UP has formal processes for selecting college coaches. At this time, Coach Bo continues to be the head coach of the UPMBT and has not resigned, ”said Francis Diaz, coach of the UP College of Human Kinetics.
“We are formally refuting the news articles that were published regarding Coach Bo’s coach status at UP MBT.”
Perasol, who took over as head coach in 2016, led to the UAAP season 80 finale, where the Fighting Maroons lost to Ateneo in two games in 2018.
Díaz added that the UP community is in mourning with Perasol for the death of his mother from COVID-19.
“Finally, the entire UP community (officials, university program, UP MBT and alumni) is in mourning with Coach Bo for the recent death of his mother due to Covid-19,” Diaz said.
