As an actor still starting out, Squad Plus’ Renshi De Guzman appreciates the lessons he received from his veteran costars on the TV series “Huwag Kang Mangamba”.

De Guzman admitted that he was initially intimidated by the presence of veteran actors on the set.

“Nu’ng una, kinakabahan ako kasi with the kasama ko na high-level actors who got along very well and established the sila. So andun ‘yung kaba, ”De Guzman said during the Oct.25 online press conference for the show’s finale.

(I was nervous at first because I’m in the company of senior actors who are great and already established. So, the nervousness was there.)

But soon, during lock-in tapes, he realized that his fellow actors are nice. Despite feeling intimidated, he was able to overcome this problem because the veterans were kind and easy to work with.

What then did you learn from the veterans?

“Sobrang dami kong natutunan kila Ms. Mylene (Dizon), kila tita Sylvia (Sanchez), kila sir Dom (Ochoa), kila Ms. Eula (Valdes). Sobrang dami. I think ‘yung mga tumatak sa akin is’ yung paginging professional sa trabaho. ‘Yung pahalagahan yung trabaho, na maging mabait, maging palabati, na wala namang mawawala kung babati ka and magsasabi ka ng good morning. ‘Yun’ yung tumatak is a similar one, “he said.

(I learned so much from Miss Mylene, Tita Sylvia, Sir Dominic, Miss Eula. There were so many. I think what marked me is being professional at work. you will lose nothing by being polite and greeting your colleagues good morning. This is what struck me.)

From his director, Manny Palo, De Guzman learned the value of being prepared before going on set.

“‘Yun’ yung pinaka-natutunan ko sa kanila, is a young paging professional at matuto kang makisama with many co-actors and siyempre rumespeto,” he said.

(This is the greatest thing I’ve learned from them, being professional and learning to get along with your co-actors and, of course, being respectful.)

“Huwag Kang Mangamba”, also starring Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri and Andrea Brillantes, is now in its final week and will continue to air its final final episodes via Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, TFC, Kapamilya Online Live, iWant TFC, WeTV and iFlix. JB
