Indian captain virat Kohli ranks second on the list of highest paid captains in International Cricket, reports Wion. The 32-year-old man has an annual salary of INR 7 crore per year. The employer is under BCCI’s A + contract category along with Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. These players play in all three formats, giving them the opportunity to win a greater number of match odds.
BCCI announced a new pay structure to be followed between October 2020 and September 2021. The grade pay list has been divided into four categories by BCCI: A +, A, B and C. Players in category A + they end up earning Rs 7 million rupees, while category A players pocket up to 5 million rupees. Players in categories B and C will end up earning Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.
English captains duo Joe Root and Eoin Morgan top the list by earning a staggering annual salary of Rs 8.98 Crore from the England Cricket Board (ECB). The Australian duo of Aaron Finch and Tim Paine are third on the list. Aaron Finch, the side of the limited, while Tim Paine leads the test team for the Australians. Both captains earn $ 1 million in annual salary from Cricket Australia. The captains of South Africa (Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuna) and New Zealand (Kane Williamson) finish in the top 5.
Kohli’s overall earnings are better than any active cricketer on the planet. He boasts excellent brand equity and has signed numerous lucrative endorsement deals. The Indian captain is listed at number 66 on the 2020 Forbes athlete list. Virat Kohli also has the best brand value among sports personalities in India.
