Sevilla have booked their place in next season’s Champions League after drawing 1-1 at Atlético Madrid on Sunday night.

All that was left to play at the top of La Liga for matchday 37 revolved around the fourth and final place in the Champions League.

Sevilla needed just one point to clinch qualification at the expense of Real Betis, and pulled off an excellent 1-1 draw at Atlético.

José Giménez gave Atlético the lead but Youssef En-Nesyri equalized five minutes from time.

This meant that Real Betis’ 2-0 win over Granada proved irrelevant. Juanmi hit a double for the locals.

Champions Real Madrid played a shadow team in Cádiz and could only draw 1-1. Mariano Díaz scored the goal for Madrid, with an answer from Rubén Soriano and a penalty from Álvaro Negredo.

Second-placed Barcelona also drew, 0-0 at Getafe, but that was enough to clinch runner-up thanks to third-placed Atlético’s draw.

Real Sociedad have secured their UEFA Europa Conference League position by finishing sixth after beating seventh-placed Villarreal 2-1. Alexander Isak and Martín Zubimendi scored the goals.

At the bottom, Levante beat Alavés 3-1, but both have been officially relegated.

The third and final relegation spot will be decided on the last day, with Mallorca, Cádiz and Granada at risk.
