Liverpool had one of the worst campaigns under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield last season. Finishing 17 points behind champion Manchester City was probably a result that no one could have predicted at the start of the season. However, while the German made some unimaginative decisions, he deserves more praise than criticism.
The Reds did not have a solid center back, and the unfortunate absence of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez exposed their frailties. With Joel Matip also upset about injuries from time to time, there was an imminent need to bring in some high-quality assets. The introduction of Anfield’s second most expensive defender in Ibrahima Konate has been the subject of Merseyside transfer. But the fans are still not happy.
Jurgen Klopp, unlike his fellow managers, doesn’t demand big transfers every summer. The beloved Anfield boss has the ability to build a world-class squad with whatever he has on hand. Therefore, there may not be too many activity transfers this summer. However, there is no denying that Liverpool lacks the depth of squad that some of the other great European elites have.
VVD’s absence exposed not only his defensive vulnerabilities, but even more so his inability in midfield. Gini Wijnaldum’s departure will only add to that concern. Therefore, it will be of utmost importance for Liverpool to identify a replacement in midfield for the Dutchman. Last season also exposed Mo Salah’s over-reliance for goals. A solid attacking option will also be part of Liverpool’s transfer ambitions.
PRIORITY NO 1 – MIDDLE CENTER
IDEAL OPTION – SAUL NIGUEZ
Saúl Niguez is one of Atlético de Madrid’s best midfielders. Playing in a system that demands aggressive tackles and pressure throughout the entire ’90s is overwhelming. But, Diego Simeone’s side does it better than others. Saul Niguez is one of his instigators. A defensive midfield screen capable of chasing anyone who touches the ball, the winner of the ball, and the counter.
Niguez’s unwavering energy and tenacity is a key quality that blends well with Jurgen Klopp’s style of play. A perfect replacement for Gini Wijnaldum. The arrival of Niguez will also ease additional defensive responsibilities for Thiago and Henderson, allowing them to play higher up the field. The formidable Fabinho will also have a solid partner to rely on, just like the Dutchman. If Liverpool gets the big money move, the Reds’ midfield is in good hands, to say the least.
BUDGET OPTION – RENATO SANCHES
Renato Sanches had an excellent Euro 2020 campaign with a rather disappointing Portugal. Sanches played his best football, dominating midfield, using his strength and pace to outwit opponents. He has also had an impact on Ligue 1 champions Lille. Liverpool have been a huge fan of Portuguese talent and have been keeping an eye on him for some time.

Sanches is a versatile midfielder capable of playing in all positions in midfield. He is a dynamic player, strong on and off the ball. Although Sanches doesn’t excel in one position, his ability to span the entire field makes him a deadly prospect.
Whether it’s progressive carries from deep positions or long shots from outside the box, the young Portuguese is calm and collected. His ball control, dribbling and ability to maintain possession is excellent. Combine that with a tenacious work ethic, eager to regain possession, and you have a product Klopp would be happy to work with.
THE QUIRKY OPTION OF FOOTBALL – SANDER BERGE
Although it was an injury-stricken season, Sheffield’s No. 8 Sander Berge was one of the best players on the team. The outstanding midfielder is one of the brightest talents in European football. With a credible understanding of the game, this Norwegian is the type of player who can dominate the midfield.
🇳🇴⚔️ Sander Berge Champions League and Europa League statistics:
2 tickets for 90
1.7 dribbles from 90
└ 81.3% success rate
4.5 accurate long balls per 90
└ 74% long ball precision
3.5 aerial duels won for every 90
└ 72.2% win rate in aerial duels

Often an outing when the pressure builds, Berge uses his exceptional ball control to blast his way into tough situations. Intercepting crucial balls and changing possession quickly also makes for a dangerous counterattack prospect. Berge could fill the void at Liverpool while presenting himself as a unique alternative.
PRIORITY NO 2 – ATTACKER
IDEAL OPTION- ISMAILA SARR
The Senegalese international had already caught the attention of Liverpool last year. A prolific scorer at just 23 years old, the right winger can be deployed anywhere on the front line. With 13 goals and four assists last season, the Watford forward has been one of their best players.
Like Diogo Jota, Sarr could fit in the right channel or he can also substitute as a forward. A hybrid option that Liverpool is reportedly monitoring. But it may not be cheap. The Reds are said to be willing to pay up to € 40 million, but Watford hasn’t set a clear price so far. Sarr could act as a potential short-term reinforcement and at the same time be a long-term replacement for the ‘Egyptian King’.
BUDGET OPTION- JEREMY DOKU
Jeremy Doku was a star among the star-studded Belgian team. The nineteen-year-old showed the hunger and passion that some of the other Belgian players lacked. Leaving the defenders in their dust, the documentary’s exceptional dribbling skills piqued the interest of global audiences. Fast, strong and entertaining, the documentary highlighted why he is called a child prodigy.

It’s no wonder Liverpool have been after the Rennes star for a while. The young player chose to stay at Rennes last season to gain more playing time and establish himself as a player. Clever moves of a young gamer, a character that would surely attract Jurgen Klopp’s interest.
Doku has the right combination to play for the Reds and while he wouldn’t immediately replace the four forwards, he definitely has the ability to challenge for the spot. Liverpool will be able to secure it on a limited budget if they act quickly. Later on, this child could be the next big price that no one in Europe can pay.
THE QUIRKY CHOICE OF FOOTBALL – WILFRIED ZAHA
The Ivory Coast and Crystal Palace striker is one of the most striking players in the Premier League and has been for a while. Surprisingly, none of the biggest clubs in Europe ever committed to getting him signed. Whether it’s dribbling, passing, ball control, skill, or even fancy tricks, this forward has it all.

Wilfried Zaha is approaching the best moment of his career. If Liverpool are looking for a known potential player to boost their lineup, Zaha is their man. Having scored eleven goals and assisted twice in the Premier League last season, Zaha has once again joined the rumors. But unlike previous seasons, we hope you finally get the move you deserve!
Jurgen Klopp knows what he is doing and although fans and experts express different opinions, Liverpool are safe in the hands of the German. Even in their worst injury season, the Reds managed to finish third in the league. With many players getting back in shape and with potential names coming in, we look forward to Liverpool again competing for the title on all fronts.
