The show was an unlikely success and was in Netflix’s Top 10 for over a month.
It was surprising to see the Nickelodeon superhero series Henry danger hit Netflix and also appear in the Top 10 list for more than a month. Seasons 1-3 hit Netflix US in early January. The series ran for a total of five seasons and the question remains whether Netflix will release the remaining two seasons.
A quick throwback for those unfamiliar with the Nickelodeon show. Henry danger debuted in 2014, but got off to a rocky start and didn’t have as many fans as Nick’s other shows. It was created by Dana Olsen and the disgraced Dan Schneider, and is about a 13-year-old boy who looks for a part-time job and ends up becoming a superhero’s sidekick. It ran from 2014 to 2020 and has a couple of spinoff shows too.
The show joins the list of other series that underperformed on their respective networks but ended up becoming a huge hit on Netflix.
ViacomCBS agreement with Netflix
The show currently airs only on Netflix US, and the final seasons are yet to come. Since the first three got a lot of views, it would be strange if Netflix didn’t publish the rest, but there is a catch.
The reason is that ViacomCBS has started licensing its shows to Netflix recently. But instead of adding the entire collection, they have taken a strategic approach. That’s to see if your shows generate interest from viewers to show up to watch you on your own streaming service.
The program that did this above is icarly, where only the first three seasons were added to Netflix, with the rest being released on the upcoming Paramount + streaming service.
